Cuba registers 2,814 new daily COVID-19 cases

HAVANA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Cuba registered less than 3,000 daily COVID-19 infections, after reporting 2,814 cases in the last day, as well as seven more deaths related to the virus, for a total of 1,033,984 infections and 8,383 deaths, the Ministry of Public Health said Thursday.

In its daily report, the ministry detailed that there were 15,380 active cases in the country's 15 provinces and the Special Municipality of Isla de la Juventud.

The province of Holguin registered the highest number of cases in the last day with 437, followed by Artemisa with 250, and Ciego de Avila with 233.

Some 9.8 million of the 11.2 million Cubans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 4.8 million have received a booster dose, according to health authorities.

Immunization is being carried out with the Abdala, Soberana-02 and Soberana Plus vaccines, three of the five vaccines developed in Cuba.
