Trump urges Cuba to strike a deal with the U.S. before its too late

Washington, Jan. 12 (SANA)U.S. President Donald Trump urged Cuba on Sunday to "make a deal" or face consequences, warning that the flow of Venezuelan oil and money would stop immediately.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, "There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba zero! I strongly suggest they make a deal before it's too late."

Trump criticized Cuba for benefiting from large quantities of Venezuelan oil and financial aid over the years, while providing security support to successive Venezuelan leaders. He insisted that this arrangement would end.

In response, Cuban President Miguel Daz-Canel rejected any foreign interference, describing Cuba as "a free and independent nation" that "makes its own decisions."

Trump has previously suggested that U.S. military intervention in Cuba was unlikely, claiming that the island "is on the verge of collapsing on its own."
